Muse – Knights of Cydonia (DJ Merritt’s Feed Me Harder Remix) This past summer Deadmau5 unveiled a memorable unreleased bootleg that mashed up Muse with Daft Punk, causing a fire storm among the crowdgoers at Wonderland Ibiza. Dallas’ own DJ Merritt has unleashed a brilliant re-creation of this tune that samples “Harder Better Faster Stronger” with one of Muse’s signature tunes from the Black Holes and Reservations record. It’s the weekend; give this new monster bootleg a spin during your weekend house party extravaganza! [Free Download]
2. Gorillaz – Stylo Dave Albarn (of Blur fame) has returned after a long hiatus to drop this brand-new single from his virtual animated band that mixes hip-hop, techno and Indie Rock. It incorporates 90s house-disco influences, free-style rap verses and Albarn’s captivating vocals (courtesy from Mos Def). This track raises the bar for what we can expect from the groups forthcoming LP. In recent weeks, it has been widely reported that remixes are expected to be released from Alex Metric and Yusek. Let’s hope fans won’t have to wait too long for more material to surface. [Leaked]
3. Calvin Harris – You Used To Hold Me (Nero Remix) In 2009, Singer/Songwriter/DJ Calvin Harris received acclaim for his brilliant Record, Ready For The Weekend, which mixed R&B, techno and house music. The UK dubstep gurus, Nero, perfectly chop up the vocals, add laser-like effects and splice in sinister wobbly baselines to make this a remarkable remix for the new year. Having already remixed Drake and MJ Cole this year, 2010 should become a banner year for this in-demand techno outfit. [Leaked]
4. Paper Romance (feat. Fenech-Soler) – Groove Armada Last summer, the multi-talented twosome of Andy Cato and Tom Findlay leaked their first single, I Won’t Kneel, featuring SaintSavior from the forthcoming LP. Another incredible release is on its way with a delicious dance tune, featuring one of the breakout electro-pop bands of 2010, Britain’s own Fenech-Soler. With several high-profile collaborations on this album, Black Light, this group should receive top honors in the Dance Billboard charts after a long bout in hibernation. [Preview]
5. Pants On The Ground – (DJ Merritt’s Dubstep Remix) Perhaps one of zaniest audition of American Idol came from Orlando’s Cornelius Edwards dance act during last week’s show. DJ Coma and Merritt combine to add in pulverizing-style percussion and acid baselines to make this both a sure-fire laugh-out-loud and dance-floor stomper. Just make sure you keep your trousers pulled up while grooving to this frenetic-paced remix.
