Sneak Peek: Winnebago Man

If you hear the term “Winnebago Man” and don’t crack a smile, or maybe shudder with distaste, then you are not one of the more than 20 million people who have seen the video or YouTube clip by the same name. It is not necessary to preview the clip to be amused by Ben Steinbauer’s documentary, in which the filmmaker tracks down the clip’s star Jack Rebney to see how his infamy may have altered his life.

For those of you unfamiliar with the original footage, it features outtakes from a commercial shoot in 1988 for a Winnebago sales video. This four-minute video montage was assembled by the disgruntled crew who shot the ad, and features the host, Jack Rebney, swearing at everyone, including himself, and lamenting about the absurdity of making the video.

Director Clay Liford (Earthling, My Mother Smokes Weeds) has just wrapped up filming on his highly anticipated new dark comedy, WUSS, which features Tony Hale (Arrested Development). The film’s basic premise focuses on a teacher (Nate Rubin) who is harassed and beaten up by his students. Rubin’s character finds an unlikely ally in a young, peculiar and mysterious student who helps him seek vengeance against some of his attackers.
